The park is very small with every river front spot taken by what appears to be permanent residents, which is too bad. We were in spots 55/56 with our friends, and were right on top of the freeway. The noise never stopped! The spots were pull thru which was nice. The water was terrible, so glad we had a double filter, our friends did not! It's close to all amenities and the wine tour.

A very pleasant surprise, with lots of shade and trees. We were in the Hemlock section of the park with a pull through slot which was perfect! The grounds were nice and clean, and there was enough room between neighbors. There was a good deal of area to ride bikes, hike into the Wildwood Park next door or sit in the Salmon River and cool off. From here you can visit Timberline Lodge at the top of Mt. Hood or hike to Mirror Lake. The downside - unfortunately, the bathrooms were not kept very clean. We also noticed there were no signs posted about cleaning up after your pets, so most people didn't! We will definitely come again.

I suppose relying on a review from 2007 was a bad idea, as that was the last time anyone wrote about this place. The pictures are not even close to telling the truth. We knew the moment we pulled in that we had made a mistake. The grounds were littered with cigarette butts, burned cans, trash, broken picnic tables and truck tire rims as fire pits. Your neighbors are so close you may as well have been in an apartment! NONE of the sites are level, so unless you brought lots and lots of wood or leveling pads you were out of luck! The sites were so small that our car had to parked sideways in front of our 24' trailer. The playground had old outdated and dangerous toys for the kids and with all the weeds, good luck with the horse shoes. The lake had trash floating in it and under the water, the shore had trash and cigarette butts. The cost did not include our dog ($5.00 extra???) and for $2.00 deposit you were given a hotel card key to the restrooms.....YUCK! They are filthy and need to be torn down! GROSS showers, mold, mildew, gross toilets and a hand dryer that never did work. The folks running the place were crabby at best and didn't really seem to care. I'm sure they don't even wash the card keys as they pass them onto the next person. We were totally disappointed and will never recommend or go here again.

What a treat to find this hidden gem! From the moment you pull onto the grounds and are greeted by flowers, green grass and beautiful grounds. The owner was great - almost the moment you left the restroom they were in there cleaning. Fresh towels were by the shower to wipe them down when you were done, very nice. The pads were amazingly level and nice. Clean picnic tables and plenty of room with the neighbors. You don't come here for the night life. The entire town can be walked in 10 minutes. Everyone is very friendly and it's a great jumping off point for the area around the Fossil Beds. We enjoyed a 12 mile bike ride following the north fork of the John Day river and really enjoyed the folks at the mercantile. Lovely, lovely place.
